George W. "Bill" Almond, Sr.

George William “Bill” Almond age 94 of Boones Mill passed away on Monday, March 2, 2020. Bill was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired in sales with many years of service. He was a member of Red Valley United Methodist Church and also the Ruritan Club. After retirement he enjoyed working with wood becoming a crafted furniture maker. He was born on December 12, 1925 a son of the late Louis Finley and Viola Craghead Almond. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Jack Finley Almond; and his sister, Dorothy Fowler. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Thornton Almond; his sons, Ed Almond (Sharlene), Bill Almond (Tammy), Bobby Almond and John Almond (Valerie); his grandchildren, Micah Almond (Amber), Olivia Patrick (Robert), and Stephanie Baker (Chance); great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Charlie and Josie Patrick, Cohen and Camden Baker. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Red Valley UMC 30 Red Valley Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065.
