Gerry Rowe Croom

Gerry Rowe Croom, of Moneta, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the age of 85, has gone home to be with her Heavenly Father. She was a member of Halesford Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonza and Estelle Rowe; brothers, Fred Rowe and Michael Rowe. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ed Croom; her sons, Tony W. Croom, Portsmouth and Tracy W. Croom, Moneta; sister, Verelle and Ted Bunch; brothers, Bill and Elaine Rowe, Franklin J. Rowe; sister-in-law, Margo Rowe. She is also survived by her grandsons, Bryan, Chris, Jonathan and Brad Croom; several nieces and nephews. Gerry loved her family and many friends that she met over the years. She loved the outdoors and taking care of her flowers, keeping the yard well-manicured with the help of her son Tracy. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone. Her little dog (Runner) was very special to her. She enjoyed the winter months that she and Ed spent in Florida for 17 years playing tennis, cards, bingo and going to the beach with the friends that she made. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Gerry’s name to: Halesford Baptist Church, 2485 Lost Mountain Road, Wirtz, Virginia 24184. A memorial service celebrating her life will be conducted from Halesford Baptist Church, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 with Pastor Melvin Harris officiating. A memorial dinner will be held in the Family Life Center following the service.
