Gilda Quinn Woods

Gilda Quinn Woods, age 58 of Ferrum passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Gilda was born on November 14, 1957, a daughter of the late Bonnie and Virginia Irene Peters Quinn. She was a proud lifelong member of Faith Assembly of God in Ferrum where she served on the board. She had 40 years of dedicated service with Ferrum College finally as Associate Vice President and Dean of Admissions. She served and led many statewide Boards and Organizations associated with Virginia small colleges. Gilda also served on the Board of Directors of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital and Franklin County School Board representing the Blue Ridge District. The family would like to express a very heartfelt thanks to her special friends and caregivers who were there for her and her family throughout her illness. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Brian Quinn and an infant sister. She is survived by her husband, Roger Woods; son, Derek Woods; her precious grandchildren, Brady Caroline Woods and Derek (Deke) Woods II; many other family members, her church family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in her name to Faith Assembly of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 280, Ferrum, Virginia 24088. Gilda loved her family, church and the many friends she had but her passion was being “Nans” to her precious grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Conner-Bowman Funeral with Pastor Adam Coombs officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
