Glenwood Divers age 98 of Rocky Mount went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 25, 2016. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a friend to many.
He was born on June 4, 1917 in the Scruggs Community of Franklin County a son of the late John Thomas (Tommy) and Claudia Jones Divers. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Divers-Lance; brother, Ralph Divers; sisters, Eula Brown, Vera Smith and Gertrude Mattox.
Glenwood was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II serving in the 29th Infantry Division. He was a member of Rocky Mount Christian Church, The American Legion Post 6 and retired from Martinsville Dupont with 30 years of service.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 66 years, Pauline Smith Divers; son, Mark Divers and wife Marie of Wirtz; his beloved granddaughters, Megan, Mallory and Madalyn; grandson, Travis; and great-grandsons, Nikola and Dayton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Christian Church 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 with Rev. Matthew Ricks, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with military rites.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lynch-Conner-Bowman Funeral Home.
