Harold E. Wray has won his earthly battles, gained victory and gloriously met his Savior.
Preceding him were parents, L. Gordon Wray and Essie Shilling Wray; and infant brother Charles Thomas Wray. Before failing health forced his retirement, Harold owned and operated H.E. Wray's Garage. Harold also was well known for his expertise in front end work at Firestone and BFGoodrich, while employed at these places. He was highly respected for his knowledge of mechanics work, and if a person who while working on a vehicle called him, he was happy to help. He often said he wasn't able to do the work, but was able to help this way when asked. Harold worked on the farm as a young man, and had continued to work hard all of his life.
Harold loved his wife and kids unconditionally. He was so proud of their accomplishments, work ethics and Christian values. Harold would always say his best friends in the world where his kids. Harold's favorite music was Bluegrass, especially gospel. He made a point to always watch music shows on Saturday nights whenever possible.
Harold is survived by his wife of fifty-four and a half years, Carolyn Mullins Wray; son, Steven D. Wray and wife Vickie, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; daughter, Janice W. Johnson and husband Robert, of Goodview, Virginia; three grandsons, Steven Jeremy Wray and wife Katie of Apopka, Florida, Robert Lee Johnson lll and Robert Justin Johnson, of Roanoke; two sisters, Loretta Sink of Roanoke and Wanda Wray of Thaxton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and David Sloane, Judy and Al Wray, Bill and Connie Mullins, Gary and Doris Mullins, Glenn and Pam Mullins, Roger and Vickie Mullins, Ginni and Doug Mullins, and Ricky Mullins; many nieces and nephews; his two long-time friends, who were always there, Forest Webster and wife Debbie, and Ray Willie and wife Shirley; last but not least, TIM, his faithful and loyal Austrian Shepherd.
Dad, as we called him, lived up to being a father and friend without exception. You've earned peace and rest Harold, we love you and will see you again.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 2, at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Wray officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, at the funeral home.
