Henry Clifford Wilkes, 89 of Bassett passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 from complications of COVID-19 at Pheasant Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Roanoke.
Clifford was born July 8, 1931 in Franklin County a son of the late Nick E. and Vera Lavinder Wilkes and he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond and retired from the Accounting Department of Bassett Furniture Company after 45 years of service.
Clifford was a long time resident of Bassett and a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville for over 50 years.
He is survived by his brother, Carlton Wilkes (Donna), Boones Mill; nephew, Chris Wilkes (Kristen), Salem; nieces, Tabitha H. Wedemeyer (Lang), Forest, Tiffany H. Hodges (Robbie), Redwood; great-nieces and great-nephews, Andrew and Jenna Wilkes, Brooks, Isabella, Caroline and Hunter Wedemeyer, Tucker and Harper Hodges; and numerous cousins.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, there will not be any public services. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
