Henry Hopkins, age 89 of Rocky Mount passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at South Roanoke Nursing Home in Roanoke. He was born on September 2, 1931 a son of the late Catherine Lee and Judge Abram Hopkins and was also preceded in death by his siblings, William Hopkins, John Hopkins and Nancy Rylatt; and a nephew, Will Hopkins.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hopkins; special nephew, Carter Hopkins; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
After college and serving in the U.S. Army, he taught at the secondary school level in Fairfax, Richmond, and at Franklin County High School.
He grew up on the family farm where he lived up until his death. After a brief “break” from teaching, a partnership was formed with his wife, Carolyn and nephew, Carter naming the farm, Hoha Dairy Farm where he enjoyed working. His greatest love was always for the study of local history which he continued throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franklin County Historical Society.
