Herbert A. Mitchell, age 85 of Penhook, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Mr. Mitchell was born November 15, 1928 to the late AB Mitchell and Pearl D. Mitchell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Ada Spender, Angie Gose and Georgie Angle; also a brother David B. Mitchell. Herbert was a hard worker who served his country in the US Army 101st Airborne Infantry Division during the Korean War. After his time in service he farmed for over 60 years with dairy and beef cattle. Surviving are his sisters Frances Holland and Jean Mitchell; nieces and nephews Bobbie Jones, William Spender, James Spender, Frances Young, Gaynell Krista, Garry Angle, Daryl Holland and Vicki Holland; numerous grand nieces and nephews; many good neighbors and friends. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 with Pastors Joe Dillon and Belle Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
