Imogene (Jean) Holtzapfel, age 84, of Beckley, West Virginia, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, January 31, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Victor (Daddy Bruce) & Essie Day Adams; sister, Lottie Hillard; brothers, Garland, Buford, Douglas, and Warren Adams; and a daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie) Smith. She spent 24 years enjoying and greeting the people of Wal-Mart in Beckley, West Virginia.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Henry Holtzapfel; her daughters, Linda Holtzapfel Murphy, Ginny Simpkins, and Recinnia (Cindy) Wray (Mark); her grandchildren, Elizabeth Brizendine (Duane), Chris Simpkins (Carolyn), Ricky Murphy, Steven Wray, Amanda Wright (David), and Laura Wray; her great-grandchildren, Aimee Brizendine, Dannie Brizendine, Faith Murphy, Kimberly Perdue, Ethan Murphy, Haylie Wright, Colton Wray, James Perdue, Hayden Wright, Stormie Murphy, and River Murphy; her nieces, Mary Ann Dickey and Gerri Markham; many other nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
The family offers a sincere thank you to the staff at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab of Rocky Mount for their wonderful care given and shown to our mother.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Route 220), with Rev. Roger Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m.
