James Daniel Austin---February 15, 1923-November 25, 2011
James Daniel Austin of Saint Petersburg, Florida passed away on November 25, 2011.
He was born in Franklin County to George Homer Austin and Daisy Austin Larrabee.
He lived a good portion of his life in Long Island, New York before moving to Saint Petersburg, Florida where he continued his work as a professional painter and wall paper hanger until he retired.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and served aboard the U.S.S. Wisconsin for the most of his service, of which he was a “plank owner”.
He was buried on December 2, 2011 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Port Jefferson New York.
He is survived by his wife, Leone Austin; two daughters, Doreen (Roy) Beghtol and Diane Coker; one son, Danny (Megan) Austin; two brothers, William N. (Shirley) Austin and Jerry W. (Irene) Larrabee; one sister, Clara Mae Frame; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 7 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 6 p.m.
