James E. Dawson

James E. Dawson, 65, of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., formerly of Stafford, VA passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Carilion Hospital in Roanoke Va. Jim was born in Alexandria, VA on July 12, 1952, and grew up in Vienna, VA. He graduated from Oakton High School, and had a short visit with George Mason University. Jim retired from Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO) in 2013 with 38 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Diana Dawson, son Adam; and beloved dog Barney; sister Ersaline Hammett, Prince Frederick MD.
