James Garland DeHart, 87, of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 17, 1924 the son of the late Clyde W. and Myrtle S. DeHart. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jamie DeHart; a brother, Bobby C. DeHart; sister, Linda D. Morris; father-in-law, Posey Robertson. After working in furniture manufacturing for many years he retired from Lane Furniture Company. James was a quiet, devoted and loving husband. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 48 years, Nadine Robertson DeHart. Also surviving are three brothers, Letcher (Ina) DeHart, Billy (Shelby) DeHart, Richard (Mary Lou) DeHart; three sisters, Lovelene Wade, Marie Cook, Jean (Virgil) Ball; sister-in-law, Shirley Dehart. Also surviving are his devoted mother-in-law, Eula Robertson; a special cousin, Nancy R. Altice; special nephew, buddy and pal, Calvin Altice, whom he loved dearly; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; aunt, Ola Stone. Funeral services will be conducted 6:30 P.M. Monday night at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Liz Lazenby and Rev. Marvin Barbre officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M. before the service. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
