James Edward Mays

James Edward Mays, age 83 of Rocky Mount passed away at his home on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was born June 12, 1938 to the late Joe and Elizabeth Mays. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Kemper James Mays; sister Ellen Mays. Surviving is his loving wife of 55 years Geraldine G. Mays; special granddaughter Stephanie Melton (Richard); the loves of his life and great grandchildren Connor Lee Melton and Abigail Melton; sisters Louise Cole, Doris Phelps and Annie Marie Mays; loving sister-in-law Barbara Harrison (Harry); many friends and family. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am. Wednesday from Franklin Memorial Park with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue (town chapel), Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
