James Tipton "Jimmy" Frye

James Tipton “Jimmy” Frye age 79 of Glade Hill passes away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2018. Jimmy loved 50’s and 60’s oldies music and always owned a corvette. The old classic “I did it my Way” definitely applied to Jimmy. A very special thanks to the staff at Fork Mountain Adult Rest Home for their special care and kindness. He was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia on January 8, 1939 a son of the late Styrl Leslie and Ruby Rector Frye; and a nephew, Max Frye. Jimmy is survived by his brother, George McAfee Frye and wife, Linda; a great-niece, Haley Frye; special maternal aunt, Shirley Cooper; numerous cousins; and special friend, Peggy McGhee. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made in Jimmy’s name to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 1000 Snow Creek Road, Martinsville, VA 241120. A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with the Rev. Gil Lee officiating.
