James Robert Love was born to Emmett and Julia Ellen Love on 8/31/1938 in the Briar Mountain Area of Franklin County. He was number 12 of the Love Bunch. James married the love of his life "Marlene Nolen" on November 23, 1968. James retired from Nationwide Homes of Martinsville. He believed in helping people and giving people second chances in life. He and Marlene mentored many young people throughout their lives.
James loved car racing, genealogy, sharing tales about growing up in Briar Mountain, gardening, listening to music and most of all he loved the Lord.
James was predeceased by siblings Pansy Houston, Ruth Joyce, Reva Love Young, Gladys Wray, Garnett Love, Walter Love, Earl F. Love,
Lee Love. He was also preceded in death by his nieces and nephews, Brenda Joyce, DL Young, Larry Wray, Lee Ellen Love, and Lisa Love.
James is survived by his sister Mildred Young Gillispie, Brothers, Cecil Love (Geraldine) and Clarence Love all of Rocky Mount; nieces, Wanda Martin, Denise Bryant (Ronnie), Donna Wray, Linda Wray (Alvin); nephew, Wendell (Josh) Love (Pam); great-nieces, Holli Martin, Kristen Williams Ray (Ben), Julia Allaman (Chris), Hannah Wray; great-nephew; Thomas Wray; great-great-niece, Avery Allaman. He is also survived by H.L. Nolen (Teresa), JP Nolen (Elizabeth), Ashley Moore (Chris), Drew Nolen, Jackson and Liam Moore. sister-in-law, Jewel Nolen Dudley.
The Love Family appreciates the family caregivers James had over the years. Darlene Wray, Doris Hodges, Tracy Radford, Hunter Radford.
James made friends with many people and they were near and dear to his heart. The Stacy Worrell Family, Dale Thompson, Roger Hudson, and many other friends throughout his journey.
Life is short. Eternity is Long, Live like it. Words and memories are precious. When James would hang up talking to me "See you around like a donut kid" was our closing statement.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Franklin County Planned Pethood, Rocky Mount, VA. The family respectfully asks no food, please.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Mr. H.L. Nolen officiating. Interment will be private in Franklin Memorial Park next to his wife, Marlene. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 3 PM.
