James Wilford Willis, age 85 of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Willis was a farmer, a member of Botetourt Farm Club, Cattleman Association, worked for Franklin County School Transportation 12+ years and served in the U. S. Army. He loved gardening, (and what a green thumb he had), golfing, and always helping others. He was born May 11, 1930 to the late Dalton and Lola G. Willis. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Murphy and Clifford Willis; and brother-in-law, James Grey. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Lucille Hunt Willis; sister, Evelyn W. Grey; brother, Robert “Bobby” Willis; sisters-in-law, Lois Willis, Ethel Love, Paige Robertson, Ruby Hunt, Avis Hunt, Dorothy Webb, and Cova Hunt; special niece Donna Webb; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 2:00 PM Friday,January 29, with Rev. David Saleeba and Rev.Tom Siddle officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.
