Jane Emerson Ordway, 83, of Wirtz, went into eternal rest peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 15, 2015 with her husband and family by her side. Carilion Clinic Hospice and Palliative Care helped care for Jane and supported the family so she could remain at her home.
Jane was born in Mt. Kisco, New York on August 30, 1931 and raised in Newport, New Hampshire. She was a devoted Catholic and married her husband of 67 years, Floyd William Ordway, Sr., on September 1, 1947. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Working various jobs she prided herself most for raising seven wonderful children and supporting them with numerous activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elizabeth Emerson and her sister, Geraldine Emerson Truell. She is survived by her husband, Floyd William Ordway, Sr.; her sister, Elizabeth “Bunny” Emerson Gonyea, of Newport, NH; her son, Floyd “Skip” Ordway Jr., her daughters, Lana and Lori Ordway, all of Wirtz, VA; her sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce Ordway and his wife Barbara, of Fredericksburg, VA, David Ordway and his wife Heidi, of Chesapeake, VA, Fred Ordway and his wife Patricia “Patti”, of Litchfield, NH, and Neil Ordway and his wife Dana, of Wirtz, VA.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be conducted 12 Noon, Friday, March 20, 2015 at Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Rev. Mark White officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery next to their home in Wirtz.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass beginning at 11 a.m.
Following the burial, the family will receive friends for a time of fellowship at the Ordway home, 5941 Booker T. Washington Hwy.
