Janie Sue Montgomery

Janie Sue Maxey Montgomery, 81, of Rocky Mount, VA passed away on Monday, November 21, 2011 following a lengthy illness. She was born July 29, 1930 to the late James Hiram (Hike) and Teetie McBride Maxey in the Scruggs community of Franklin County, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Montgomery; brothers, J.W, Perry, Warren, and Davis Maxey; sisters, Elva Maxey McGuire and Annie Maxey St. Clair; brothers-in-law, Paul McGuire and Arthur St. Clair; and sister-in-law, Edith (Bob) Maxey. She is survived by her son, Alvin J. Montgomery of Rocky Mount; daughter, Linda S. Montgomery of Asheville, NC; son & daughter-in-law, Barry A. and Elaine Montgomery of Moneta; grandson, David T. Montgomery of Roanoke; granddaughter, Laura E. Montgomery of Moneta; great-granddaughter, Judith L. Montgomery or Moneta; great-grandson, Raylyn Holden of Ferrum; sisters-in-law, Edith, Iva and Dorothy Maxey; and literally hundreds of members of the extended Maxey and Montgomery families. There will be no meal after the service. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8, Tuesday, November 22 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11 am Wednesday with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park.
