Jerry William Mills

Jerry William Mills, age 75, of Boones Mill, Virginia passed away, Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at his home. Jerry worked for Nabisco for 43 years and was known by many as “Cookie Man”. He was a member of Poages Mill Church of the Brethren having also attended Cedar Bluff Church of the Brethren. He was preceded in death by his father, W.E. “J. Hugh” Mills; two brothers, Alexander and Herman Mills; and a sister, Betty Jane Guthrie. Jerry is survived by his mother, Ruth Mills; his wife, Loretta Mills; daughter, Pam Hartman (Jimmy); son, Stephen Mills; sisters, Anita Mills, Kathy Hartman (Ronnie); brother, Harold Mills (Joyce); sister-in-law, Carolyn Mills. He is also survived by his extended family; nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to thank Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Dr. Suzan Merten, Matt Manico, PA and staff of Blue Ridge Cancer Care for their compassionate and loving care especially during these last few days. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions in Jerry’s name may be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Virginia 24019. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, November 2, 2018 at Franklin Memorial Park with Pastor Todd Reed officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
