Jo Ann Johnson

March 31, 1955 — March 9, 2018

Jo Ann Schlageter Johnson, 62 years of age, passed on Friday March 9, 2018 at home surrounded by the love of her husband, pets and multiple family members in Moneta, VA. She grew up in Covington, GA and was a graduate of Newton County High School class of 1973. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from North Georgia College located in Dahlonega, GA. Jo loved spending time with her beloved husband Prof. Steve Johnson, Paddington their Basset, and Opie their parrot. Together they enjoyed their morning coffee while watching wildlife outside their living room window. Thru the years they also enjoyed attending and cheering on Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech football. Jo was very active within her neighborhood. She enjoyed traveling the world with Steve but held a special place for the beach. Her favorite hobbies included golfing, knitting, Mahjong, and quilting. Jo was very family oriented and is survived by her husband of 14 years, Steve, step-daughter Amanda, step-son Alex (Alex), grandchildren Aurora and Parker. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Joanne Schlageter. She is survived by siblings, Patti, Lynn (Bob), Paul (Barbara), Mary (JR), Judy, Nancy (Frank), Jay (Julie), sister in law Patricia, numerous nieces and nephews all that loved her dearly. She had a special place in her heart for her entire “family from the north” especially Uncle Tom and Aunt Judy and their family. Jo has requested no service, but in lieu of flowers memorial donations to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org) in her name would be welcomed. Arrangements by Conner-Bowman Funeral Home & Crematory, 62 VA Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount.
