JoAnne Candela Burkle

JoAnne Candela Burkle, age 85 of Boones Mill passed into the Lords care after a long illness on October 7, 2016. JoAnne was born September 2, 1931, in Orange, New Jersey and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Arthur T. Burkle; and her beloved first grand-daughter, Tara Scutari. JoAnne was a seamstress for most of her life and in her retirement years she made quilts and donated them to the Ronald McDonald House of Roanoke and other charity organizations. She is survived by her daughters, Denise Scutari & husband Anthony, Kathryn Candela, and Jacqueline Kinsey & husband Brian. She is also survived by her Grandchildren, Tara, Laura, Donald, Dominic, Sam, Emily, and Aimee; Great-Granddaughter Kaylee; sister, Carmela Mary Lasner; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Father Nicholas Mammi, Pastor ofFrancis of Assisi Catholic Church presiding. Interment will follow in the Kinsey Family Cemetery, Boones Mill. Her family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
