Joe Billy G. Tinnell

On Wednesday, September 28, 2011, Worthy (Joe)(Joe Billy)Glenwood Tinnell stopped dying and started living after a six month battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Joe was born on August 5, 1930 in Union Hall, VA to Elsie English Tinnell. He was a farmer, owned and operated a country store in Union Hall for many years. Until his illness, he was a truck driver for Cundiff Trucking and loved going to Dudley’s Truck Stop and telling jokes. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie English Tinnell; his granddaddy, J.H. English; grandmother, Mollie B. English and his first wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Tinnell. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat Dyal Tinnell of the home; two step-children, Kendall Dyal (Dana) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kim Piper of Rocky Mount; eight step-grandchildren, Adam Gardner, Sidney, Kelly and Kenneth Dyal, Kendall Dyal II, Mariah Foley, Justin and Jaden Piper. One step great-granddaughter, Cayleigh Kilisha Gann. His family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Franklin Memorial and Roanoke Memorial Hospitals, Franklin Health Care and Carilion Clinic Hospice. Funeral Services will be conducted from Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Chapel, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.
