Sgt. Joey Lee Hicks, 44, formerly of Rocky Mount passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 after a long battle with Melanoma.
Joey is a veteran of the United States Army where he served 14 years and earned many awards and accomplishments. Joey’s greatest accomplishment was being a dedicated father to his four boys and a devoted husband to Renee. Joey was everything you could hope your son to be and your daughter to find. He was the best. He was always the life of the party, and always wore a smile. He was loved by all who knew him.
Joey is preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph Yopp, Wilford Hicks, and Ruby Hicks.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Renee; their four boys, Jayden, Jax, Kaleb and Zeth; his father, Carl Hicks; mother, Debra Brown (Perry); sister, Chasity Scott (Greg); and grandmother, Martha Yopp. Joey is also survived by a niece, several nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many more friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow with military honors in the Yopp Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends Saturday, July 6th from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
