John "Big Dawg" Franklin Henderson, Jr.

John Franklin Henderson age 54 of Franklin County passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on June 12, 1968 in Washington, D.C. to the late John Franklin Henderson, Sr. and Sandra Varnedore.

John "Big Dawg" was a joy to all who knew him. He didn't hold his tongue and he expressed how he felt at all times. John was a devoted, loving, hard-working father. He was the epitome of a good father, friend, brother and son. He was selfless leader, giving generously of himself and putting others' needs ahead of his own. John served 25 plus years as a roof technician at Fisher Roofing, Inc.

John is survived by his sons, John (Johnny) Henderson III, Bubba (Brittany) Henderson, Jacob (Amara) Henderson and Willie Turner; daughters, Jonica Henderson and Liberty Cook; sisters, Rhonda (Chad) Burnopp and Robyn (Jeff) Taylor; grandchildren, JaKaree Henderson, Arai Clements and Kyleigh Cook. He is also survived by a of other family members and friends.

The family would like to say "Thank You" to the extended family at Franklin Health and Rehab.

A Celebration of Life Service where his family will receive friends will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. There will not be a service.
