John James McGreevey, age 71, of Hardy, was called home to God’s comfort and protection on Saturday, November 14, 2015.
John was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 15, 1944, but his family roots as Virginia Farmers captured his heart at a young age. He was proud to call himself a Virginian.
He enjoyed a successful career in horticulture, which remained a lifetime passion. After moving to Virginia John excelled as a top producing realtor at Long and Foster Realtors. His strong sense of fair play and can do attitude put people at ease. He was always dependable, and would go the extra mile for you. Somehow you knew things would work out if John was with you. John loved life and had many passions including trees & flowers, automobiles, golf, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Cairn Terriers, and lots of ice cream.
John was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Son-in-law, Brother and Uncle. We will sorely miss this truly beautiful man. He is survived by his loving and devoted Wife, Patrica J. McGreevey; Son and daughter-in-law, John and Shelly McGreevey; Sister, Annie McGreevey; Brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Karen McGreevey; Father-in-law, Patrick Dunne; Niece, Olivia Gunton; Nephew and his wife, Jonathan and Lori Ames; and many extended family members.
