John Richard Young

John Richard Young, age 72 of Rocky Mount, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011. He was born July 16, 1938 to the late John and Eunice Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years Gertrude Davis Young; sisters Mary, Bertha and Gladys Young and Geneva Stanley. Mr. Young was retired from Lane Co. with 43 years of service. Surviving are his brothers Clinton and Jerry Young; step-daughters, Earlene Crowe and Bettina Wingfield; step-sons, Michael Turner (Sharon), Thomasville, NC and David Turner; eight step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandson. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Rescue Squad. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 with Rev. Bill Doss officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis-Hodges Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home, 210 Altice Mill Rd., Rocky Mount.
