Joyce K. Hodges

Joyce Elaine King Hodges, 69, of Boones Mill, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 after a 42 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born March 27, 1943 to the late Harold E. & Ruby Leonard King. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Don King. Joyce was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren. She was a graduate of Franklin County High School and attended National Business College. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 43 years, Carlton R. Hodges. Joyce was a very loving and Christian mother to a son, Robert Hodges, and daughter, Amy Hodges, of Boones Mill. Also surviving are sister, Mary Frances Hurt (Mike); sister-in-law, Carol King; special cousins, Sarah Mae Glass (Richard), and Mary Lee Brubaker (Cline); and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2012 with Pastor Bill Hinton officiating. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her name to Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, 4250 Bethlehem Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065, or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Blue Ridge Chapter,1020 Carrington Place, Charlottesville, VA 22901. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren.
