Kate Irene Rigney Fralin

Kate Irene Fralin, 76, of Union Hall was called home on Saturday July 4, 2015. Irene was born on June 15, 1939 to the late Claude Swanson Rigney and Nannie Kate Rigney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, James Douglas Fralin, her son, Richard Lee Fralin, and son in-law, Mike Pinto; three brothers, Dudley Rigney, Swanson Rigney, and Junior Rigney, two sisters, Clara Lucado and Stella Blankenship. She was a long-time member of Museville Christian Church and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who always put her family first. She retired from MW manufacturing after 20 years of service. She is survived by her children, Patricia Pinto of Ferrum, ; Judy Cannaday (Gary) of Rocky Mount; Wanda Manning (Jeff) of Glade Hill; Dean Fralin (Sarah) of Glade Hill; Kenny Fralin (Brandy) of Glade Hill; and Annette Fralin of Glade Hill. Eight grandchildren, Michelle Lamm (Ben); Jaime O’Bryant (Rick); JW Manning (Sara); Tony Pinto (Jessica); Doug Fralin; Alecia Akers; Katherine Aken; and Camden Fralin. Five great-grandchildren, Jalyn O’Bryant; Caleb O’Bryant; Logan O’Bryant; Levi Lamm; and Josey Lamm. She also leaves behind one brother, Paul Rigney of Penhook (Frances); two sisters, Myrtle Donovant of Martinsville; and Betty Jean Hall (Junior) of Rocky Mount; a special sister in law, Mildred Rigney; a special niece, Betty Lou Pruitt; and best friend Elnora Pasley; and many special nieces and nephews. Irene fought a courageous battle with lung cancer. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Mark Kochenderfer and staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Center; Dr. Nathalie Abi Hatem at Carilion Pulmonology Medicine; and staff of Roanoke Memorial Hospital In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Museville Christian Church. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Museville Christian Church officiated by Pastor Conley Stephenson. Interment will follow at the Fralin Family cemetery on Brooks Mill Road in Union Hall.
