LENA BARNES GRAY June 25, 1916 - January 18, 2014 Proverbs 31:28 Her Children arise up, and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praiseth her. Lena June Barnes Gray left this world for her Heavenly reward on Saturday, January 18, 2014. The daughter of the late Bedford D. and Harriett Elizabeth Nallion Barnes, she was born in the mountains of TN on June 25, 1916. Mrs. Gray was the oldest living member of Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church and was a former member of Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren and Pleasant Dale Church of the Brethren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence F. Gray; grandchildren, Melissa Dawn Pagans and Eric Scott Lee; and her only sister, Glennie Barnes. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Janet (Wayne) Pagans and Freda Horn of Wirtz; grandchildren, Karen (John) Guffey of Troutville, Stacey (Bryan) Browe of Fredericksburg, Alan Ramey (Leann) of Moneta, Amber (Trey) Fleming of Wirtz; ten great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, and one step- great-great granddaughter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Mary Gray, Wirtz, Phyllis Hawley, Moneta, Kathleen Gray, Elliston, Ingrid Gray, Roanoke, Charles (Barbara) Gray, Boston, MA; She is also survived by special friends, Jerry Horn and Clyde (Carolyn) Harris of San Antonio, TX whom she loved like a son; special niece, Diane Ramey, Goodview. She and Lawrence met in Newport News, VA while both were working for the Civil Service during WWII. They shared 49 years together riding motorcycles, watching baseball games, fishing and raising their girls. Funeral Service will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 with Rev. Doug Sasser and Rev. Jerry Naff officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Burnt Chimney United Methodist Church or Burnt Chimney United Methodist Women, P.O. Box 63, Wirtz, VA 24184. Her family will receive friends Monday, January 20, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 at Wirtz Road, 62 VA Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount…540-334-5151
