Lorrie Eames Ellis, 52, of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, following complications from a heart attack. Lorrie was the wife of Darryl Ellis, and they recently celebrated 27 years of marriage together.
Born on October 17th, 1966 in Rocky Mount, Lorrie was the daughter of the late Paul and Marlene Eames. She obtained her associate degree in 1987 from Ferrum College, and later returned to Ferrum, where she worked in the Financial Aid Department for the last eight years. She recently completed her bachelor’s degree in religion from Ferrum College and had been accepted into Liberty University’s Rawlings School of Divinity to obtain her masters degree,which she was scheduled to start in the fall.
Lorrie was an active member of Open Door Community Church, where she served as choir director, Vacation Bible School coordinator, and faithful servant of the Lord.
Lorrie is survived by her devoted husband, Darryl Ellis; two daughters, Rachael and Sarah Ellis; one brother; Wes Eames and wife Diane; one nephew, Jake Eames; two nieces, Caroline and Heidi Eames; father and mother-in-law, Ralph and Virginia Ellis; sister-in-law, Annette Brown and husband Dale; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and a multitude of friends, colleagues, and church family.
Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Story Creek Baptist Church. Family will begin accepting visitors at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. The service will be conducted by Lorrie’s Pastor and family friend, Pastor Marshall Banks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for financial donations to assist with medical bills due to the unforeseen circumstances.
