Mamie D. Patterson

Mamie DeWitt Patterson, age 87 of Martinsville, died Monday, August 29, 2011 in Glen Burnie, Maryland. She was born January 13, 1924, a daughter of the late William and Belva Lester DeWitt. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Garland and Royal DeWitt; three sisters, Elizabeth Patterson, Lillian Barbour and Barbara DeWitt; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Patterson. She is survived by her sons, John W. Patterson, Sr., Thomas W. Patterson (Patricia); her grandchildren, John Patterson, Jr. (Katie Matter), Philip M. Patterson, Marie F. Carey (Benjamin), Koren Wilson-Bunn, Brian Wilson (Donna); three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy DeWitt and Lorene Coleman. Graveside services will be conducted from the Patterson Family Cemetery, 554 Barbour Road, Martinsville, Virginia, 2 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 with Mr. John W. Patterson, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the graveside beginning at 1:30 p.m. until service time.
