Marcia Jean Owens, 71, originally from Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018 after a year-long battle with cancer. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Alberta Owens, and her husband, William McNally. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Jonathan Holcomb, her granddaughters, Megan Owens and Amanda Holcomb, her great-grandson, Christian Owens, and her cousin, Kathy Pinteno as well as other family members and many friends who loved her dearly. Marcia spent many years employed as an administrative assistant at Hofstra Law School in Hempstead, New York before moving to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia in 1994. One of her most favorite things to do was to spend time with her family and friends beside the pool enjoying the warmth of the sun. Marcia spent the last 10 years working as a bartender for the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in Moneta, Virginia where she made lots of friends and lots of memories. Marcia was a Christian and in the week before her death, she made a request to be baptized. On Sunday, November 18th, Marcia was baptized in obedience to her savior, Jesus Christ, by Pastor Tony Gray of Vitalize Church. A memorial service will be held for Marcia on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club #4344, located at 4136 Diamond Hill Road, Moneta, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Marcia to the American Cancer Society.
