Margaret Campbell Thurman, age 86 of the Redwood Community of Franklin County, where she lived her entire life passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015.
She was born October 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Dalton and Lillie Hicks Campbell and also preceded in death by her former husband, Paul Thurman.
She retired from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and was a faithful member of Redwood United Methodist Church.
Ms. Thurman is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry T. and Kailey Lynch, Gaye T. and Donnie Campbell; three grandsons, Briant, Barry and Byron; seven great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Shirley and Lois Campbell, Nannie Campbell; her sisters, Dalphia Furrow and Linda Waybright. She is also survived by a special cousin, Judy Hodges; special church buddies, Lysa and Doyle Cockram and her church family of Redwood United Methodist; numerous other family members and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers and staff of Runk and Pratt for their dedicated commitment and care given and shown during her stay.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Redwood United Methodist Church, 3001 Old Franklin Turnpike, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
Funeral services will be conducted from Redwood United Methodist Church 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 with Rev. Brad Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
