Marjory Blankenship, 73, of Roanoke, Virginia went to be with our Lord on September 15, 2024.
Margie was born in Rockbridge County in 1950 to Hawthorne and Mildred Austin and was the middle of 3 children. Margie attended Natural Bridge High School before studying nursing at Stonewall Jackson Hospital School of Nursing, and later retired from the Salem VA Medical Center after serving 24 years of service.
Margie was preceded in death by Hawthorne and Mildred Austin, her parents, Mary Manspile, her sister, and Tyriek Hill, her beloved grandson.
Margie is survived by her James Blankenship Sr., her husband of 34 years, Shelia Robertson, her sister, 4 children: Angie Meadwell (Russell), Beth Martinez (Ashley), James Blankenship Jr. (Stephanie), and Jamie White (Ron), and 8 grandchildren: Oscar Hendel, Haley Hendel, Aiden Cooke, Carley Martinez, Adrian Cooke, Brodee Meadwell, Eli Blankenship, and Rayna White, and her special cousin Diane Irvin (Marvin), her special friend Barbara Phifer, multiple nieces and nephews, and her 3 dogs: Bella, Pebbles, and Bear.
Margie was most known for her thoughtful, loving and caring personality, love for her grandchildren and pets, her famous cooking at family gatherings, her crafting skills, and love of the outdoors.
Flowers can be sent to Conner-Bowman Funeral Home and/or in lieu of flowers, donations to Angels of Assisi would be greatly appreciated.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will be receiving friends from 12-1 pm Wednesday before the service at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 Virginia Market Place Dr., Rocky Mount, VA
