Martha Bonnell Dunbar

Martha Bonnell Dunbar “Big Nanny”, age 74 of Redwood passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012. She was born June 7, 1937 a daughter of the late Wade Jefferson and Pearl Bridges Carr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Morris Dunbar; brothers, Amos, A. J., Howard, Bud and Nathaniel Carr; a sister, Margie Mende. She is survived by her son, Jefferson “Jeff” Wade Dunbar (Beetle); daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie “Boo” and Roger Neice, Jody and Timmy Hall; twelve grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jewell of Redwood and Ruthie Morton of Georgia. She is also survived by her very special friends, Sister Odin and Sister Darlene of Living Waters Pentecostal Church and Alice Hall. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2012 with the Rev. David Long and the Rev. Roger Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Glade Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount and other times at Mrs. Dunbar’s home.
