Martha Ferguson Seidel, of Rocky Mount, departed this life peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Martha was born March 16, 1951. She mourned the loss of her parents, John and Hazel Ferguson, her son Thomas Paul Guffey, and her brother Steve Ferguson.
Martha was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all. In particular, her children and their spouses: Gene Guffey and Jenny, John Guffey and Karen, and Hazel Reese and Matt, her 7 grandchildren: Bailey, Cardwell, Grace, Rayne, Martha, Sy, and Aina Mae, and her siblings: Sally Holcomb, Hatcher Ferguson, Aina Berger, and Harris Ferguson.
Martha was a unique lady blending humor, wit, intellect, and passion. Her devotion to her children, grandchildren, siblings, and close friends was extraordinary and treasured . Martha graduated from Ferrum College and earned her Teaching Certificate from Radford University. She was well-known and respected for her artistic talents including drawing, painting, sewing, and baking. Many of her designs were displayed in local galleries and can be found in homes across the valley. In addition, she shared her enthusiasm for drawing and painting with students for many years. Martha spent time working as a set painter in Hollywood, California. She employed her talents to help create multiple movie sets. Martha touched the lives of so many and will forever be in their hearts.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 27 at Rocky Mount Christian Church. The church is located at 120 South Main St. Rocky Mount. A private graveside service will be held at the Ferguson Family Cemetery.
