Marvin Clarence Young

Marvin Clarence Young, age 89 of Ferrum went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2012. He passed away at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, retired from Creative Construction Company in Salem and was a lifelong member of First Church of the Brethren of Ferrum. He was born September 23, 1922, a son of the late George Alvin and Willie Rakes Young. Mr. Young is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred A. Young; brother G.A. (Joyce) Young; sister-in-law, Elvie Wright; brother-in-law Herman (Nannie) Kesler. He is also survived by his special nephews, Gary (Brenda) Solomon, Roger (Terri) Solomon, Phillip (Kathy) Solomon, T.J. Wright, Ronald Young; other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2012 with Pastor Ben Layman officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park with military honors. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Brethren of Ferrum, c/o Lucy Quinn, 2734 Thompson Ridge Road, Ferrum, Virginia 24088. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday with his family receiving friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Arrangements by Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount.
