Doris B. Dottie Shea, 88, of Naples, FL died peacefully on March 24, 2010. Born July 6, 1921 in Glade Hill, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Julia (nee Metts) Brown. Dottie finished her undergraduate work at Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg College in VA and went on to receive her Masters degree from Columbia University. Since 1976 she had been an original resident of Vista Palms in the Lely development in Naples. Dottie spent summers at her home in Smith Mountain Lake, VA. She was a member of Lely Presbyterian Church for over 30 years. An avid bridge player, she also enjoyed traveling. Dottie was an elegant, gracious, kind, patient, and compassionate lady who will be dearly missed. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Joy and to her son-in-law, William Collins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Shea; daughter, Karen Brown Shea; brother, Wilbur Brown; and sister-in-law, Dora Brown. A memorial service will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11: 00 A.M. Tuesday, July 6, 2010 with Elder Junior Conner officiating. A private inurnment will follow.
