Mary Compton

Mary Carter Compton, age 88, of Rocky Mount, VA went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 24, 2013. Mary was a devoted Christian and adored by friends and family. She was born March 24, 1925 the daughter of the late Ernest Lee Carter and Isabelle Simmons Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ira C. Compton and her brother David Carter. Surviving to cherish her memory are a sister-in-law, Irene Carter and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Reverend David E. Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M on Wednesday where the family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday night at the funeral home.
