Mary Lou Diggs Murphy

Mary Lou Diggs Murphy, age 79, of Rocky Mount passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013. She was born May 20, 1934 the daughter of the late John Henry Green and Gracie Lee Hall Green. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Edgar Lewis Diggs and her 2nd husband, James (Jimmy) Murphy also by a daughter, Mary Annette Johnson. Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Mae Moore and husband, Charles of Moneta , Cindy Ashbrook and husband, Clay of Rocky Mount ; two sons, David Diggs and wife, Beth of Wirtz, John Diggs and wife, Ginny of Roanoke; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Harrison; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday at Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
