Mary Jane Wright

Mary Jane Wright, age 94 of Rocky Mount, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 23, 2016. Mary was born to the late Pearl Price in Pittsylvania County on December 14, 1922. She was baptized at a young age at Mt. Olivet Holiness Church in Martinsville. She loved church. Her hobbies were sewing, listening to music and gardening. Mary was preceded in death by her late mother Pearl Price Thomas, her husband Curtis Walter Wright and one brother John Henry Thomas. Mary is survived by 6 daughters, Frances Mattox of Roanoke, Aleice Jones (Jerome) of Roanoke, Bernice Jane Wright of Glade Hill, Janice Wright of Rocky Mount, Mary Elizabeth Brooks of Rocky Mount and Betty Adkins of Rocky Mount. She has 2 sons Guy Junior Wright of Martinsville and Curtis Toler Wright (Elaine) of Rocky Mount; one dear grandson Allan Wayne Wright (Eloise) whom she raised as her son. Mary has 3 sisters Helen Wright (William) of Rocky Mount, Elbert Cooke and Elsie Cooke both of Martinsville; two brothers Lee Thomas of Martinsville and William Thomas of Chatham. She leaves to cherish her memories a host of grandchildren and great, great grandchildren; one special granddaughter Redina Woody Butler and great granddaughter Alexis Campbell. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Town Chapel) 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Watson Level Baptist Church Cemetery in Climax. Her family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount.
