Matthew Scott Thompson

Matthew Scott Thompson, age 17 of Sydnorsville, died suddenly Thursday, August 22, 2013 as a result of a automobile accident. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents James Murphy, Jr. and Mae Murphy, John and Doris Blackwell; and cousin Justin Thomas Blackwell. Matthew was a very intelligent young man who was a youth pastor at Oak Level Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on small engines, fixing chain saws and trailers. Surviving is his mother Diona Thompson; father Russell Thompson; brother Jonathan Thompson; sister Holly Thompson; grandparents Tom and Jean Blackwell, Gordon and Snookie Moses and their daughter Courtney; uncles & aunts Tommy and Dawn Blackwell, Gary Blackwell, Wanda Owen, Maynard Thompson; Matthews second family Jim and Debbie Wyatt and family; numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11am Monday. Interment will follow in the Taylor-Blackwell Family Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home and at others times at the home of Tom and Jean Blackwell, 165 Blackwell Rd., Sydnorsville, VA.
