Mayland Emmett Arrington

Mayland Emmett Arrington, Jr., age 86, of Rocky Mount passed away Friday morning, June 7, 2019. He was born April 29, 1933 the son of the late Mayland E. Arrington, Sr. and Maggie Barbour Arrington. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Mary Pat Arrington and Dorothy Joan Arrington; sisters, Geneva Harmon and Mary Alice Richardson. He was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, had a passion for animals, especially his horses, dogs and pets, and he also served in the U. S. Navy on a medical ship during the Korean War. He is survived by his children, Mayland Arrington, III (Bernice), Michael Arrington, Julie Couture (John), Laurie Horsley (John), John DeMent, Marylynn Heuel (Joe), Judith Pacheco (Reed), Steven DeMent (Jennifer); 11 grandchildren, Tony, Jeremy, Bianca, Katey, Bobby, Teresa, Tyler, Travis, Larry, Tina, Jason; several great and great-great grandchildren; brother L. D. Arrington (Ruth) and many other family members and close friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ivy Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday night at Sandy Ridgge Baptist Church.
