Michael Wayne Shell

Michael Wayne Shell, 82, of Franklin County, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2021. He was born in Lacomb, Oregon on August 16, 1938, to Lorene Burford and Chester Shell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Geraldine Shell. He is survived by stepdaughters, Gerri Simmons of Hampstead, N.C., Gina Phelps (husband Brian) of Harrisonburg, VA, and grandchildren; Jacob Bush, Amanda Maish, Jimmy Hagy, Logan Phelps, Megan Phelps, and special friend, Lori Oyler. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He doted on his kitties, Fluffball and Orange. In his later life, Mike accepted the Lord as his Savior, attended church regularly, and witnessed to others. Graveside services will be conducted at Franklin Memorial Park 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 with Pastor Denver Turner officiating. There will not be any visitation.
