Monroe McGhee

Monroe G. McGhee, age 78, of Rocky Mount, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Mr. McGhee was born September 19, 1931 to the late Roy and Pearl Ingram McGhee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Glenn, Harold, Wilson, Woodrow, Marie and Bet; brothers-in-law Jesse Chitwood and James Peanut Chitwood; sister-in-law Loraine Chitwood Nolen. He was retired from the Franklin News Post and Erath Veneer and also worked at the old Rocky Mount Theatre. Surviving is his loving wife of 44 years Mary Frances McGhee; sisters-in-law Nellie Adkins and husband Jennings, Christine Hall, Ruby C. Brown, Marie Chitwood; brother-in-law Norman Chris Austin; special nephew Mike Austin; special niece Martha Fralin and husband Frankie; lots of nieces and nephews. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday with Rev. Mark Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
