Nellie Bernard Robertson

Nellie Bernard Robertson, 82 of Rocky Mount passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, with her family by her side. She was born on June 18, 1934, a daughter of the late Ira and Pearl Bernard. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Louise Whitlock. She is survived by her husband, Henry Robertson; her children and spouses, Gabriel and Vicky Robertson, Sharon and Dave Merritt, and Lavon and Lee Frye; five grandchildren, Jaeger Merritt, Hunter Merritt, Beau Robertson, Victoria Robertson, and Faron Frye; two great-grandchildren, Ariyah Clements and Bryleigh Clements; sisters-in-law Rachel Young, Casteen Davis and Belle Robertson; and her special caregivers, Helen (Missie) and Sean Cooper, Regina Weeks, and Lynn Wood. Nellie was a 1953 graduate of Franklin County High School and she was a Lady Eagle basketball player. Her passion was dancing and art, and her family was her pride and joy. The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice and Heart and Hands for the loving care given to Nellie during her illness. Funeral services will be conducted from Conner Bowman Funeral Home (Rt. 220 Chapel) 7:00 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Her family will receive family and friends two hours prior to the service beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Humane Society – Planned Pethood Clinic and Adoption Center, 18401 Virgil Goode Hwy, Rocky Mount.
