Nellie Mae Tanks

Nellie Mae Jones Tanks age 65 of Callaway passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She retired from Carilion Clinic as an ICU Registered Nurse (RN) after years of dedicated and faithful service in the medical field where she loved helping others. One of her favorite things to do was cook, especially for others but her true passion in life was being a mother and grandmother as she loved them all dearly. She was preceded in death by both her mother and father. She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Angelic Tanks; her son, David Wayne Tanks, Jr.; her loving grandchildren, Xavier Amari Tanks, Mariah Nelli Tanks and Tristan Isiah Tanks; her former husband and faithful caregiver, David Wayne Tanks, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Shanon Lenee Haynes. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia Holmes, Mary Jones Moss, Debra Macklin, Luvania Rebecca Jones, and Evelyn Mae Strange; special uncle, Lewis A. “June” Muse, Jr; other family members and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 with Elder Kenny A. Tanks officiating.
