Newton Edward Hodges, Jr., 73, of Rocky Mount, went home to be with the Lord December 23, 2012. He was the son of the late Newton Hodges, Sr and Sue Emma Johnson Hodges. Born on December 9, 1939, he was a Deacon and an active member of Halesford Baptist Church, Wirtz, Va. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Halesford Baptist Church with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating, Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday night from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Halesford Baptist Church. Newton was married to Juanita Brown Hodges and they just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on December 21, 2012. Newton spent the majority of his life in Franklin County. He worked in the furniture industry and touched many people at Stanley, American, Pulaski, Bassett, and other plants located all over Henry and Franklin County. He was gifted with many talents that involved furniture and the use of his hands. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Juanita, three children; Daryell Gene Hodges (Jan), Kerry Lane Hodges (Cindy), Lynette Santrock-Puzio (Ted); 8 Grandchildren, Ginger Hodges, Teddy Puzio, Matt Puzio, Jeremy Hodges, Josh Hodges, Lane Hodges, Katelyn Santrock, Carter Santrock and too many family members, friends, and neighbors to list. He is survived by his bother Phillip Hodges (Patty), 2 sisters, Nora Hunt, and Carol Sue Johnson (Bayse).
