Owen J. Halpin

Owen John (Jack) Halpin, age 94, of Wirtz, VA affectionately know as “PopPop,” went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2014. He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Rosemary Theresa Halpin of Wirtz, VA; his daughter, Rosemary Halpin of Roanoke, VA and his Grandson, Kyle Halpin of San Antonio, TX. Jack was born the son of the late Patrick and Serena Halpin on October 24, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York. He resided in New York until retiring to Burnt Chimney in 1989. He traveled throughout the U. S. and the Pacific while serving in the Army Air Force during World War II. His distinguished Military Service includes, The Battle for Okinawa in WWII and Service in the NY Air National Guard. He is survived by his son John Halpin (Cathy) of San Antonio, TX; 11 Grandchildren, Jay Tinkler (Jenn), Karol Kunz (Doug), Gerry Bingeman (Lara), Patrick Bingeman (Allison), Danielle Vaughn, John Halpin (Shana), Jack Halpin (Jenny), James Halpin (Sandra), Jason Halpin (Sarah), Nick Halpin (Jena) & Matt Halpin (Alexandra). He is also survived by 23 Great-Grandchildren. God has brought Jack home to be with His Beloved Rosemary and watch over his family and friends.
