Pansy Spencer Tavenner of Rocky Mount, VA., age 77, died on May, 30, 2016. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in early 2014.
She was born in Henry County, VA to the late James Ralph and Hattie S. Spencer.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by son, James Montgomery (Monty) Tavenner (whose death was September 24, 2015) and her in-laws Ralph and Adeline Tavenner.
Pansy is survived by her husband, Robert A. (Bob) Tavenner, Sr. She and Bob married June 23, 1956. Additionally she is survived by son, Rob, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Tavenner; grandsons, Ryan, Brandon, and Austin Tavenner; grand-daughters, Taylor and Kylee Tavenner; brothers and sisters in-law Steve and Becky T. Griffith; John and Susan T. Wilder; several aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
Among the many friendships she valued, three were extra special: Onita Mays; Joyce Rogers and Phoebe Schuyler. She felt very blessed by their presence in her life.
Sincere appreciation to her medical oncologist, William Fintel, M.D., Elizabeth Skaggs, ANP, Paul Richards, M.D., and all the caring medical and support staff with the Blue Ridge Cancer Care Oncology group at Salem. Sincere appreciation also, to the staff on Oncology 6th Floor staff, Bill Burnelli, P.A. and the support staff working with him in Radiology. Thank you to her Internal Medicine physician, Michael Malpass, M.D. and his great staff.
So appreciated was the support Bob gave as they tried to deal with this disease. He did everything one could possibly do. Rob and Debbie gave great support to them and she knew they will continue to be there for Bob as he begins a new chapter in his life.
At Pansy’s request all services are private. She also requested that there be no scheduled public visitation.
